The principal goal of breeding herds is to consistently meet breeding targets. Weaned sows failing to return to oestrus within 7 days after weaning contribute to missed breeding targets and increased non-productive days (NPD) (Patterson 2010). Longer lapse between weaning and oestrus together with real anoestrus contribute to the inability to fill completely the vacant farrowing places and to raise cost of NPD.
Fertipig® (gonadotropins) helps to plan and utilize the potential of the sows and space by decreasing the risks of sows not in heat and by decreasing the N° of NPDs. During the suckling period, sows are physiologically in anoestrus. Fertipig®, with the best synergistic PMSG (400 UI) and hCG (200 UI) formulation, is designed to give a fertile oestrus.
